WHY: The population of Americans over the age of 50 continues to grow and represents one of the most active generational groups for U.S. home buying and selling. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are approximately 113 million Americans over 50, and this age group is expected to grow by another 16% (or nearly 18 million people) by 2030. In its 2019 generational trends survey, the National Association of Realtors (NAR) reported that those over 50 made up nearly 40% of home buyers and the largest group of home sellers (55%).
